A.D.D. : Ice Cream

THIS.
IS.
BRILLIANT.

The first person to buy it for me gets my eternal devotion. (Click the shiny picture click it!)

Also Etsy is evil.

In a good way.

Crafty: Melted Crayon Art

So apparently if you melt crayons all over a canvas, you get this.

AWESOMESAUCENESS!!!
How do you do it?
Simple.

Step One:

Get crayons.

Step Two:

Get canvas.

Step Three:

Get hot glue.

Step Four:

Glue crayons to canvas.

Step Five:

Get a hair dryer and crank that baby up!

And that's that. You might want to be careful where you point the dryer though. The melted wax follows the airflow and it tends to splatter. I pointed the dryer downwards most of the time to get the dripping effect. You can do what I did, but there are many ways to do it so make sure not to put yourself into a box!

One last note.
The wax won't start melting immediately, even with the dryer on a high setting. Don't get discouraged if it takes a minute or two to start dripping! Patience is the key with this one.

Supplies: Crayons, canvas, hot glue, blow dryer.
Time: 30 mins approx.

Have fun! If you make one I'd love to see it!

Crafty: Painted Boxes + FAIL

So my mom was shopping and noticed a bunch of wooden boxes on sale. Being the awesome mom she is, she bought several for me to paint! :)

They all turned out quite nicely I think... EXCEPT

FOR

                  THIS >:(

THIS is what happens when you coat THIS box with red and white acrylic paints and then try to seal THIS with clear sealant spray.
The red runs.
Even though it had been dry for 48 hours.
Go figure.

Anywhooo, if anyone wants to buy a wooden box, feel free to make a request. But please don't ask for red and white! LOL

DeviantArt Showcase: "Orwald"

Today I just thought I would show off an artist that has caught my attention lately. Orwald is a photographer by hobby. I admittedly know very little about photography, but the color, motion, and surreal nature of her work has completely blown me away! These two photos are just a sample of the beautiful things she has in her main gallery,
so come check out her work on DeviantArt!
I promise you won't regret it!

A.D.D. : Owl City & Etsy

This is (in my opinion) one of the most exhilarating pieces of music e v e r woven into the tapestry of sound.

And this stunning little piece of hand-crafted jewelry reminds me of it.( I mean, come ON! It's 1950's retro futurism for pizza's sake! )

So when I saw it my heart skipped two whole beats and I thought "Hot dog! Forget college I'm buying that beauty!", and then that annoying little voice in my head said "No! You don't need it and you don't even have the money! You might want to wait a while and come back to it after you've thought a bit...". So I did. I waited. I thought. Then I came back. It had been sold.

Etsy! Why must you torture me so?!

Night Owl: I'm thankful for...

Spiral Galaxy M83
NASA APOD
Nov. 11, 2011

What I'm thankful for today is Spring. I'm thankful for these warm nights when I can throw my windows open and listen to the crickets. I'm thankful for the spring blossoms, and I love them more while they're here because I know that soon they'll go away. But today I'm the very most thankful that I was able to spend the last two days with both of my wonderful grandmothers.
I love you both so much.

Happy Birthday to Grandma
   Happy St. Patrick's Day!

First Post:

Hello everyone! If you're reading this I want to say thank you! I also have to warn you that I take no responsibility for the brain damage which may occur from reading this blog.

Thank you!

So...If things go according to plan (they rarely do), I'll be able to sort and label my posts according to content, so that readers can find the subjects they are most interested in quickly, and ignore the ones that bore them. In each post, the first word or two will indicate what kind of post it is. Like this:

  •  Crafty - arts, crafts, and DIY.
  •  Just a thought - stories, quotes, and prayers.
  •  Night Owl - stars, nebulae, and what I'm thankful for today.
  •  Geek Chic - science fiction, cartoons, and common geekery.
  •  LOL - will make you giggle or your money back!
  •  A.D.D. - for anything that doesn't quite fit in...

Well, I hope you have fun!
If I can make you smile then my job is done!
